CSIR-CECRI'S Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility

The Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility, at CECRI, Karaikudi, has been created with an objective of providing all analytical facility under one roof in order to enable for the scientific community to carry out measurements for R&D work in various areas of science and technology.

SAIF hosts various sophisticated instruments which cater the need of cutting edge research in many areas of modern science and technology. It also offers its users, a wide range of analytical methods/techniques for chemical /material analysis testing/characterization facility.

The SAIF is organized into 8 categories, each offering a complement of sophisticated instruments and technical expertise to support Scientist/student research, industrial and educational outreach in the following categories:

  Microscopic Techniques - SEM, FE-SEM,TEM, HR-TEM & SPM (STM/AFM).
  Chromatography - GCMS, HPLC, GPC.
  Thermal Analysis - TG/DTA/DSC/TMDSC.
Magnetic Resonance - EPR / NMR up to 500 MHz.
Optical Spectroscopy - ATR-FTIR, UV-VIS-NIR, Fluorescence, Laser Raman.
X-ray Diffraction Techniques - Powder XRD, SAXS/WAXS and Thin Film.
X-Ray Photo Spectroscopy and Surface Science - XPS (ESCA).
Elemental Analysis - CHNS/AAS and XRF.
