Dr. S. Vasudevan, did his Masters in Chemistry in 1988 and obtained Ph.D in industrial chemistry from Alagappa University, Karaikudi (Tamil Nadu, India) in 1995. He did his Postdoc at the CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Karaikudi in 1995. He joined as a Scientist at CSIR-CECRI in 1997 and currently a Senior Principal Scientist. He has been working in diverse areas of electrochemistry for over 25 years. His research primarily focused on the areas of electrochemical water treatment, hydrogen generation by water electrolysis, synthesis of electro-inorganic chemicals, electrochemical waste management, electrocatalysis, and magnesium batteries. His assiduous involvement in research on electrochemistry has earned him D.Sc. (h.c) from the LINGAYA’S University in 2018. Ranked in TOP 2% of Scientists Worldwide (Stanford University).
Dr. Vasudevan has published more than 100 research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals and written seven book chapters. Notably, he has contributed a chapter to the WILEY’s prestigious ULLMANN’S Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry (7th edition). He has presented more than 100 research papers in various national & international symposia and delivered more than 70 invited and keynote lectures on many occasions both in India & abroad. Furthermore, he is on the editorial boards of several international journals, including Nature Scientific Reports. As an outcome of his innovative research, he has been granted eleven Indian patents and one international patent. He has transferred five technologies to industries that had great societal values. He was an Invited Professor at University of Paris (East), France in 2012.
He is a recipient of several awards and medals which include the best paper award, best import substitution award, the best technology award, per capita ECF award from different organizations and “MRSI Medal” by the Materials Research Society of India. He has been conferred with the "International Best Researcher" award by the International Science Congress Association in 2012, “Eminent Scientist Award” by the Indian Society for ElectroAnalytical Chemistry in 2013 and “International Highest Publication Award” by the International Science Congress Association in 2014.
He is a Fellow of several prestigious academic societies/association viz. Royal Society of Chemistry, UK (FRSC), Australian Institute of High Energetic Materials (FAIHEM), Chartered Chemist (CChem) by Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, The Academy of Sciences Chennai (FASCh).
