Electrohydro metallurgy is an area of work dealing with extraction /recovery of metal values through electrolysis of aqueous solution. In the present day energy crisis associated with escalating cost of energy and dwindling resources of high grade ores, every effort should be made to reduce electrical energy consumption for electrolytic recovery of metals besides utilising the secondary sources of metals and alloys. Further, abatement of environmental pollution is also to be given due importance. Electro hydro metallurgy division has been actively engaged in research and development work relating to recovery of metal values from secondary sources with a three fold objective of pollution abatement, by product recovery and energy conservation. The electrochemical route for the recovery/treatment of secondary waste has the added advantage of purer product.
